Claude can work with Google Sheets through the Claude for Sheets add-on — using CLAUDE() functions directly in cells — or by creating full spreadsheet files from a conversation that you upload to Sheets.
Open your Google Sheet, go to Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons and search for "Claude for Sheets". Install it and enter your Anthropic API key in the sidebar under Extensions → Claude for Sheets → Open sidebar.
Type =CLAUDE("Create a monthly budget based on these transaction categories") in any cell. Claude can read other cells in your sheet, so it can analyze your synced transactions and build formulas, summaries, and dashboards around your real data.
Go to Claude.ai or Claude Desktop and describe the spreadsheet you need. Claude can create full Excel files with multiple tabs, formulas, and formatting — then upload it to Google Sheets.
