Your money, made answerable.

Built onPlaidMCP10,000+ US banksso your real accounts reach the tools you already use.

Your AI has a PhD in everything, including personal finance. We just wanted to give it the tools to properly serve you.

Anna Lein - Founder, OpenBudget

The answers were always in your accounts. Getting them out was the work.

Ask an AI assistant how much you spent on groceries last month and it will reason beautifully about a number it cannot see. Your transactions sit locked inside bank apps that answer nothing, and the spreadsheet that could answer everything demands hours of manual entry to stay current.

OpenBudget closes that gap. Connect your banks once through Plaid, and your transactions, balances, and debts flow into the AI you already use, over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and into the Google Sheet or Excel workbook you already keep, updated automatically.

The project is independent and self-funded.

A few rules we don't break.

Simple principles that shape every decision: what we build, what we charge for, and what we'll never do.

Your money stays put

Bank connections run through Plaid, and OpenBudget never stores your credentials. Your AI can analyze, organize, and tidy up, but money only moves when you move it.

Your data is yours

No ads, ever. We never sell or share your financial data. The subscription is the entire business, which is exactly why it never has to be anything else.

Real numbers, not guesses

Every answer your AI gives comes from your actual transactions and balances, synced from your bank. No estimates, no hallucinated totals.

No dark patterns, ever

No fake urgency, no countdown timers, no copy written to manipulate. One plan with everything in it, and if you want to cancel, the button is one click away.

One subscription. That's the whole business.

OpenBudget costs $5 a month billed annually, or $9.95 month to month. One plan includes everything: unlimited bank connections, the MCP server for your AI, and automatic spreadsheet sync.

That price is the entire revenue model. We don't run ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't take referral fees to steer you toward financial products. When the subscription is the business, your interests and ours point the same way.

What OpenBudget is not.

  • Not a bank. Your money never touches OpenBudget; we work with transaction data through Plaid and nothing more.
  • Not an investment adviser or financial planner. Nothing on the site or in your AI's answers is financial advice.
  • Not a way to move money. There is no transfer, payment, or trading surface; money only moves when you move it at your bank.
